Volleyball Swept in USA South Tri-Match

STAUNTON, Va. – The Mary Baldwin University women's volleyball team hosted a USA South Tri-Match Saturday afternoon. The Fighting Squirrels lost the first match to Methodist 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-20) and lost the second match to Meredith 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-16).

The Fighting Squirrels were led by Rachel Christian who tallied 12 kills and four digs. Emma Tomlinson registered 21 assists and two digs, while Madison Cash marked 14 digs.

Methodist was led by Megan Andrews who had nine kills and eight digs. Lili Henry led the team in assists with 19 and added five digs. Defensively, Maddie Barga collected 15 digs.

In the second game for Mary Baldwin Christian added 11 kills and five digs. Tomlinson had a game-high 25 assists to go with four digs. Cash tallied 19 digs. Michaela Beverly had seven kills and four digs.

Meredith was led by Caroline Corey who tallied eight kills and five digs. Lauren Grodi collected 19 assists, while Lauren Phillips registered 13 digs in the win for the Avenging Angels.

The Fighting Squirrels will return to action on Wednesday, October 30 when they play their final home match of the season against Randolph College.
