Fighting Squirrels Wrap Up Day One at USA South Championships

BEREA, Ky. – The Mary Baldwin track & field team wrapped up the first day of the two-day USA South Track & Field Championships, with two runners qualifying for tomorrows finals in the 200m run and one Fighting Squirrel bringing home gold in the long jump.  

Day 1 Highlights  

  • Quinland Musgrove finished first in the long jump, leaping 5.23 meters, claiming the first medal in MBU track and field history, and shattering the school record for this event. Musgrove also placed fourth in the high jump with a mark of 1.40 meters.  

  • Alice Wardy finished first in her heat in the 200m dash with a time of 27.05, advancing her to tomorrows finals.  

  • Gregory Woodard finished first in his heat in the 200m dash by .004 seconds, with a time of 22.53, advancing him to the finals tomorrow afternoon. 

  • Max Doerwaldt placed sixth in the men's 110m hurdles, with a time of 16.21.  

  • Jerrel Graham placed fourth in the high jump, with a mark of 1.80 meters.
