Volleyball Begins Conference Play

RALEIGH, NC - The Mary Baldwin University volleyball team opened conference play this week on the road.  The Fighting Squirrels fell to Averett University on Wednesday evening 0-3.

Mary Baldwin University then traveled to Raleigh, NC for their first conference quad match of the season.  In the morning, Mary Baldwin battled host Meredith College losing 0-3.  In the afternoon, the Fighting Squirrels played their best match of the season falling to Pfeiffer University 1-3. 

In the final match, Mary Baldwin's offense was led by Michaela Beverly who tallied 7 kills.  Tatyana Johnson followed closely with 5 kills.  Kelley Slack added 10 assists.  The defense was a balanced effort led by Beverly with 10 digs.  Kelley Slack and Brenda Korlison added 8 digs each while Tatyana Johnson and Makayla Scott tallied 7 each.

Mary Baldwin University, 0-14 (0-2 USAS), continues play at home Tuesday evening when they host Salem at 7pm.
