STAUNTON, VA - Hollins University improved their record to 3-0 this evening with a 3-0 win over Mary Baldwin in women's volleyball.
In the first set, the visitors jumped out to a 15-4 lead. Mary Baldwin battled back scoring 9 points down the stretch but it was too little too late as Hollins took the first set 25-13.
Mary Baldwin struggled offensively in the final two sets giving Hollins the win 25-13, 25-9, 25-6.
Hollins was led by Kiki Speights who finished with 10 of the team's 31 kills. Hannah Platak led the defense with 29 digs.
Mary Baldwin was led by freshman Michaela Beverly who tallied 6 kills. The balanced defense was led by Brenda Korlison who finished with 10 digs. She was followed closely by Brittany Sharon and Kelley Slack who finished with 8 each.
Mary Baldwin University, 0-6, continues play this weekend at the Maroon Invitational at Roanoke College. The Fighting Squirrels take on Roanoke and Randolph on Friday evening and Piedmont and Hollins Saturday afternoon.
