Ferrum Improves Record to 8-1 in the USA South

STAUNTON, VA - The Ferrum College women's basketball team remained at the top of the USA South East Division with a 62-35 win over Mary Baldwin this evening.

The Panthers controlled the paint outscoring Mary Baldwin 44-18 in the lane and outrebounded the Fighting Squirrels 45-26.

Mary Baldwin trailed Ferrum by just 11 points at the half.  Ferrum began pulling away in the 3rd quarter when they increased the intensity of their defense.

Ferrum's balanced scoring attack was led by Zarkia Mattox with 13 points.  She was followed closely by Kelli Mounce and Erin March who added 12 each.

Mattox and March finished the night with a double-double.  March led all rebounders with 11 while Mattox added 10.

The Fighting Squirrels were led by Khai Davidson who scored 13 points and grabbed 9 rebounds.

Mary Baldwin, 2-18 (0-9 USAS), continues play at home this weekend.
